A video created by him shared by President Donald Trump through his social truth platform earlier this week has received significant reactions to his idyllic version of war -torn Gaza, transformed into a Rivera -style resort.
Trump had previously suggested this month that the US should take control of Gaza and rebuild it – while current Palestinian residents would be transferred to other countries, including Egypt and Jordan. The two Middle East nations have called such an unrealistic plan and are not ready to see Palestinians permanently displaced from the territory.
Palestinian officials have condemned the video message.
“This video and its degrading content reflect the deeply rooted colonial mentality that seeks to distort reality and justify the occupation crimes,” CNN Ismail Al-Thawabtah, the Director General of Gaza, led by the Hamas Government’s media office, told CNN. “By portraying Gaza as if it were a land without a people, this desperate effort aims to legitimize the continuous ethnic cleansing performed by the Israeli profession with clear American support.”
Reality vs. Fantasy
However, beyond the criticism of the video for what it means to the Palestinian people is the unanswered question of how such a project can come together.
